About
The Green Room focuses on theater and dance, with an emphasis on musical theatre. The program centers on creating productions that include elements such as plays, costumes, set materials, props, and sound and lighting equipment. Participants explore imagination, creation, and performance through theater activities.
• Ages: 5–13 years old
The Green Room states that theater fosters creativity, teamwork, communication skills, and self-confidence in young actors. Its mission is to inspire and empower young performers in a creative and inclusive space where they can explore musical theatre, collaborate, dedicate themselves to their work, and express themselves. The mission also includes nurturing artistic talents, building confidence, fostering appreciation for the arts, celebrating diversity, cultivating teamwork, and encouraging young people to dream big, take risks, and find their voices on stage and beyond.
The Green Room credits its theater and dance work as © 2014 by The Green Room. The leadership team includes Maggie Cole as Founder and Theatre Director, Jerry Cintas as Technical Director, Cassian Grove as Assistant Director and Teaching Artist, Kristina Sutherland as Choreographer, Chloey Garza as Assistant Director and Teaching Artist, and Anthony Doan as Teaching Artist. The program notes that donations help keep production costs down, allow scholarships and lower-cost programs, and cover essentials such as royalties for plays, costumes, set materials, props, and sound and lighting equipment, as well as pay for qualified instructors, directors, and other staff. It also states that donations make a big impact on the lives of young people and the community.
Parent feedback includes comments that it was a child’s favorite afterschool class and favorite after school activity to date, that a child loved the class and could not wait to do it again, and that families enjoyed seeing their children perform along with the show, props, and costumes. The Green Room describes itself with phrases such as “Where imagination takes center stage!” and “Explore. Create. Perform.”
